Leading up to its 42nd anniversary as a Special Economic Zone, the city’s most influential home & office interiors trade fair, Shenzhen Creative Week (SZCW), will return for the 37th edition, July 25-28, 2022, with its parallel exhibition Design Dome. Previously a core highlight of SZCW, Design Dome will feature in Hall 15 at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center and debut its new expanded format.
Curated by a seasoned in-house international team, Design Dome integrates design and high-end lifestyle, aiming to create an incomparable design show experience and serve as a platform that connects global furniture brands with the Chinese design industry. Several of the world’s leading furniture brands have confirmed to participate in this year’s Design Dome, making for an exciting lineup and a promising first edition. This marks for many their first entrance into Southern China and the Shenzhen market.

Italian leading furniture brand Zanotta will be presenting their idea of home and contemporary living, showing the ability of their collection to respond to the needs of consumers and professionals. “We will participate in the March (Design Dome) fair with great enthusiasm and desire to present the distinctive features of our brand, our great history, and our products to the public,” Zanotta President Giuliano Mosconi said in an interview with Interni.
Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, Danish century-old brand Fritz Hansen will express its enduring core values at Design Dome, carrying the themes “Design Infiltrates Life” and “Quality Brings Happiness”. The unique and rare PK81™ and PK80™ daybeds will be on display, along with new highly customized versions of its classics.
Having been involved in the development of modern design in Denmark for 111 years, Fredericia continues to impress the world. The brand will showcase its contemporary design collection, as well as the classic works with the likes of Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, and Nanna Ditzel.
Mater will be promoting ethical design through its socially and environmentally conscious furniture and lighting collection.
Spanish brand LZF, known for its beautiful wooden luminaires, will make its debut in China through Design Dome.
Also among the lineup of exhibitors are the Milan-based brand Chateau d’Ax, bringing its collection of quality products with maximum comfort; Edra, with its art objects and extraordinary furniture pieces; narrative and imaginative next-generation brand Qeeboo; German leading luxury cabinet manufacturer Warendorf die Küche; Italian high-end kitchen brand CESAR; Nordic luxury home appliance brand ASKO; German electrical switch and smart home brand JUNG; and organic furniture manufacturer Gommaire, and many others.

The International Designer Connection (IDC) is an exhibition space for top-of-the-line independent designers, design studios, and design institutions to present their works and promote their businesses. By introducing buyers and furniture manufacturers to the participating service providers, the IDC serves as a channel for companies and design resources to meet and connect with the most suitable business match for each other’s needs and services.
Serving as a unique boutique space at Design Dome, Design Object displays a vast variety of original design and innovative materials collections. Atop promoting high-quality designers and brands, Design Object aims to contribute to China’s continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing industry, by offering the visitors of Design Dome a deep understanding of original, high-quality design.
To support young talents just entering the design industry, Design Dome has created WISE—an award exhibition that selects eight outstanding new designers each year to showcase their work.
Curated by Mario Tsai with execution support from BAJIAO Design, joined by Hongfei Ren and Anbin Zhou as advisors, this year’s WISE will showcase the works of seven innovative designers: Hongyu Dai, Shu’an Lin, Chun Song, WILD ZOO, Motong Yang, Shiqi Zhang, and Zhongyu Zhang.
Founded in 1953 by the German Parliament, the German Design Council is the official national design promotion agency of Germany, dedicated to the discovery, recognition, and promotion of leading design through its international awards.
The German Design Pavilion will feature the winning designs of the ICONIC AWARDS: INNOVATIVE ARCHITECTURE and the ICONIC AWARDS: INNOVATIVE INTERIOR, ranging from cabinetry, kitchen appliances, sanitary ware, lighting, and outdoor furniture to luxury German home furnishing brands.
Idea Out is a forum within Design Dome that focuses on Design & Creativity. Every year, the forum invites industry leaders and innovators to discuss current topics in design and society, hoping to contribute to the global design industry development and inspire the ecosystem.
With the theme “Design – in China”, the 2022 edition of Idea Out will be joined by multiple designers, brand founders, and academic researchers; covering over ten hot topics within the four days duration of Design Dome.

Material_S is a project born from the mind of Tommaso Masera, Design Dome planning director and award-winning industrial designer—also a curator of the project together with Alessandro Guerriero, Italian design master and Domus Academy co-founder. A highly-anticipated new addition to Design Dome, Material_S is an avant-garde collaborative project that aims to push the boundaries of the materials and give life to innovative materials application solutions.
The project involves design masters who will be creating themed spaces—Aldo Cibic, a founding member of Memphis; Frank Jiang (Jiang Feng), chairman and chief designer of J&A; and Ben Wu (Wu Bin), one of the most high-profile interior designers in China; as well as renowned local and international designers: Alessandro Guerriero, Giulio Iacchetti, Ryan LaBar, Liang Chen, Shi Tianyi, and Ye Fan. These designers and artists collaborate with the best material companies to varying degrees, from material provision to planning and execution, to create an interactive testing ground for innovative applications of materials in furniture and space.
Milan & Shanghai-based Yuhsien Design Studio will present ‘The Playground Between People and Object’, a project that emerged from the idea of a playground. Using material and elements provided by three companies, The Playground consists of installations resembling different areas of a playground—the maze (Knights Craft), the swing (Ultrasuede), and the garden (Rug Star), offering visitors a personal, emotional, and nostalgic experience.
Yuhsien Design Studio Founder Yuhsien Lin has previously participated in multiple exhibitions and worked with Fortune Global 500 companies such as Starbucks, IKEA, and DJI.
