We Visited the QQODD x FLOS Showroom in Chengdu

A must-visit gem with some of the most iconic pieces in high-end lighting.

China’s top high-end lighting distributor QQODD just opened its first showroom in Chengdu, perfectly located amidst the artsy area of the city’s Fanmu Flying International Creative Park. Remodeled and designed by Archetype 元太, a leading local architecture and interior design firm, the two-story building is a collaboration between QQODD and one of its partners FLOS.

FLOS’ minimalist yet intriguingly creative collection illuminates the entire first floor with a warm ambiance, setting the tone for a relaxing experience. Walking among the brand’s lamps and fixtures, we noticed some of its signature and limited items on display, including the Arrangements modular pendant light, the Bellhop table lamp, and Philippe Starck’s discontinued Ara lamp—which you wouldn’t find anywhere else.

Up on the second floor is where visitors can find carefully selected products from other lighting brands. Currently featuring Lodes, Slamp, Martinelli Luce, Fabbian, Prandina, LZF, and more, the showroom will “change its setup from time to time, bringing different brands and providing different styles of experience to our customers,” according to QQODD.

Q&A

Could you tell us a bit about QQODD’s new showroom? What’s QQODD’s vision for the showroom, and what kind of audience will QQODD be targeting?

“QQODD’s vision has always been to bring excellent European design and lifestyle to domestic consumers. This new showroom carries that goal. Through this showroom, QQODD hopes to present some of our carefully selected outstanding design products to our customers, including designers and end customers.  We wish to provide an offline place for customers to experience before purchasing.”

What led QQODD to open its first independent public showroom this year?

“We wanted to set up a showroom open to the public where customers could walk in and visit at any time. Instead of the commercial atmosphere of a traditional lighting store, we hope that this showroom will provide a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere so that customers can better experience the product design and lighting. This independent showroom located at Creative Park can meet our needs.”

What can guests expect from the showroom? Will there be any special features or experiences other than the exciting display of products?

“The new showroom will change its setup from time to time, bringing different brands and providing different styles of experience to our customers. We also hope to bring some new inspiration for our customers’ home lighting design.”

We noticed that every year new brands are added to QQODD. What's the frequency of product/brand updates for QQODD?

“QQODD has been constantly on the lookout for good European brands and products. There is no fixed update frequency. Only when we find good products and excellent design. We will introduce them and bring them to our customers.”

Other than the two exciting limited editions by Flos, what other brands will the new showroom feature? What are the criteria for choosing the brands or products to display?

“The showroom also includes several exclusive brands distributed by QQODD, including Lodes, Slamp, Martinelli Luce, Fabbian and Prandina from Italy, and LZF from Spain. Other brands include Artemide, Foscarini from Italy, Moooi from the Netherlands, Marset from Spain and Santa&Cole, and so on. We have selected the classic design of each brand, which is also very suitable for home decoration, to recommend to our customers.”

We learned that QQODD is a key partner for many design firms. What do you do to update information with design agencies on a daily basis? What’s your general action?

“Our general promotion and sharing include online and offline. Online, QQODD has been maintaining several designer WeChat groups and insists on sharing pictures and descriptions of several products every day. In addition, we also regularly update our social media, such as Xiaohongshu, Douyin, and our official account on WeChat. We also welcome you to follow our various channels. In addition, we also hold online video conferences with design agencies from time to time to do some brand sharing. Offline, QQODD will participate in exhibitions every year to bring you new brands or products.”

Will there be any regular offline events now that the new showroom is completed?

“Yes, we will hold some events from time to time, such as new product launches, brand sharing and so on. Please look forward to it.”

Finally, congratulations on the opening. Are there plans to expand to other cities?

“The future goal of QQODD is to open showrooms in all first-tier cities, hoping to better interact with local designers and clients. It is also convenient for QQODD team to provide faster and better services.”
