Shenzhen Creative Week 2024: Design Dome Returns with High-End Bespoke
Corresponding with this year’s Shenzhen Creative Week theme, “The New Chinese Residence”, the 2024 Design Dome presented High-End Bespoke—a global exploration of whole-house customization in China’s furnishing and home design industry.
Following its previous editions, the event gathered Chinese and global brands, artists and designers, and other industry professionals through an array of exhibits, projects, and salons, this time under the theme “The New Chinese Residence”.
Among this year’s exhibitor lineup were Neodiko, whose new series launch POSEENA with designer Li Lirun attracted a non-stop long line of visitors; Tucson with its introduction to the spiritual value of green and low-carbon design; and OASIS OBJECT, promoting elevated outdoor living through high-quality, environmentally responsible design along with five of its partnering global brands: DEDON, Sika-Design, Sifas, Harbour, and Tuuci. Mattress company Lattoflex presented its history and decades of innovative sleep technology through the Lattoflex Sleep Museum.
Creacioun returned for its third edition. Themed “天作之合 – A Match Made in Heaven”, this year’s Creacioun portrayed an integration of traditional Chinese aesthetics into modern home design and lifestyle. Focusing on low-carbon lifestyle in contemporary homes, the exhibit was presented in four highlights.
“The New Chinese Residence” highlight presented five themed home scenes: Ceramic Tea Space feat. Cunmo Art Space, Young Home Space feat. RED&Y and Deco•Deco, Outdoor Camping feat. Sunbrella and M Square, Intangible Cultural Heritage Office Space feat. MATSU and Xiao Sanjiang embroideress Qi Zonghan, and Nature & Garden feat. Livintwist and Pushe Design.
“Independent Works” showcased the Stone Exhibition and Single Product Area, featuring works by Chahui, Xue, ACE, and MP. “Sustainable Action” explored the industrialization of intangible cultural heritage crafts, including how to protect, pass down, and promote them. “New Materials + Process Technology Innovation” featured textile veneer by ALPI and fabric composition innovation (defluorination) by Sunbrella.
Design Object, a platform that centers around exploring new business models, focused on cross-industry co-branded collaborations this year. A collaboration with WAIWAI, artist/designer/illustrator and creator of the OWSON IP, “OWSON Village” presented four days of exhibits and salons, featuring global and local brands such as Lazboy, Herman Miller, Riva1920, Stellar Works, Boking, Friendless, and more in its bold and whimsical black-and-pink exhibition area.
Annual design competition for emerging talent WISE gathers eight most outstanding young designers under 30 every year to create new products based on the year’s theme. WISE 2024’s “Forest Party”, a collaboration with furniture brand CHEERS, asked participants to reimagine the brand’s original sofa and chair frame, using different materials, patterns, and techniques to make it their own.
International Design Connection (IDC), a space for emerging designers and studios to promote their works and connect with companies seeking design services, featured new and returning studios: MINGDU OBJECT, Morpha Design, Seed Casa, Mu Moon, Nöin, MMR, Lampiit, and more.
Presenting its fourth edition since the 2021 relaunch, Design Dome 2024 was a comprehensive show of art, design, and commerce, continuing its mission to connect global companies with China’s design industry. Keep your eyes peeled for news and updates—Design Dome will be back March 2025!
